I first fell in love with the hospitality industry during my childhood. Thanks to the fact that my father was an Irish Rugby team selector, I was fortunate on occasions to have the opportunity to travel with the team and stay in such iconic properties as The Balmoral in Edinburgh and The Shelbourne in Dublin which fuelled my lifelong fascination for the hotel business.

After completing a degree in hospitality management at the University of Surrey, I joined the marketing team of the world – famous Gleneagles Hotel in 1988. After six wonderful years which entailed the start of the Gleneagles journey from becoming a golf hotel to a complete leisure resort, I left to join Stakis Hotels in their corporate office in Glasgow as Marketing Manager for the hotels’ division. It was an exciting time to join the group as they expanded from 39 to 54 properties in the ensuing 5 years, buying privately owned properties, hotel groups such as Metropole Hotels and building hotels from scratch.

However, the lure of the unique Gleneagles led to my return there in 1999. I held the role of Director of Sales & Marketing for 17 years whilst the repositioning of Gleneagles as a world class property and destination in its own right continued and the hotel played host to both the G8 summit and The Ryder Cup.

October 2017 heralded the launch of DMW Marketing and an opportunity to continue indulging my passion for luxury travel and the incredible beauty and experiences available in Scotland and the rest of the British Isles. I look forward to working with others who share my passion for this wonderful industry and the unique experiences which it offers.
